RADARU DETEKTORU UZSTĀDĪŠANA

Lielākā atšķirība starp radaru un lāzeru: atšķirībā no radara lāzera starojums nav pastāvīgs, tāpēc to nevar laikus noteikt. Automātiskajām lāzera mērīšanas sistēmām ir noteikts darba diapazons, t. i., attālums no 25 līdz 75 m, no kura tās kļūst aktīvas, un tikai tad tās var konstatēt. Turklāt lāzera mērījums parasti aizņem sekundes daļu. Un pēdējais, bet ne mazāk svarīgais: pats lāzera stars ir ļoti plāns, un to var konstatēt tikai tad, ja tas trāpa konstatējamajam sensoram.

Jautājums par to, vai radaru detektori ir likumīgi, Eiropā nav viennozīmīgi atbildams. Ir valstis, kurās radaru detektoru lietošana ir likumīga, savukārt citās ES valstīs aizliegts lietot tikai traucētājus. Citās valstīs ir atļauti tikai radaru detektori, kas ar GPS palīdzību ziņo par fiksētajiem fotoradariem, bet ne radaru uztvērēji.

AustriaXGPS devices with a POI warner as an "announcement function" are permitted. Radar warning devices that can be used to influence or interfere with technical traffic monitoring equipment are prohibited. These may neither be attached to nor carried on motor vehicles. Violators face an administrative fine of up to 5,000 euros and the device will be confiscated.

Vispazīstamākā un joprojām visizplatītākā ātruma mērīšanas metode noteikti ir radara slazds. Taču ir arī citas mērīšanas metodes, kas netiek veiktas, izmantojot radarus. Tāpēc ir vērts to noskaidrot iepriekš, lai izvairītos no vilšanās saistībā ar aizsardzības apjomu.

Jo Eiropā tagad bieži izmanto arī citas mērīšanas metodes, piemēram, mazjaudas radarus (MRCD, MRCT, GATSO), lāzerus vai pasīvos mērījumus, izmantojot ESO (vienpusēju sensoru) vai sekciju kontroli. Dažas no šīm jaunajām mērīšanas metodēm var noteikt ar labiem mobilajiem radaru detektoriem. Ar pasīvajām metodēm, ja tās tiek izmantotas mobilās, tas kļūst grūtāk.
